World Women’s Day (Jagtik Mahila Din )

JAGTIK MAHILA DIN was celebrated widely on 8th MARCH 2009 by pragatee foundation, Mumbai. Mrs. Pawanpreet Kaur Duggal a Treasurer of Pragatee foundation enlightened the women about the need of education in becoming self dependent.

She was also focused on subject of killing of daughters in rural area. we have produced a street play on the subject of the PC-PNDT Act called ‘Bitiya Na Maro’. Mr. Pramod of Creative group and his troupe will perform the street play, which would be of 15-20 min. duration.

We were focused on the dire consequences of the falling sex ratio in our society and nation. 

In addition, we will be bringing forth the ways in which a common person can make a difference in preventing sex selection in the community. We are positive that you feel as strongly as we do about the evil practice of sex selection prevalent in our society. It is with this belief that we seek your kind permission to stage the play within the precincts of your esteemed organization between 15 April – 29 April 2009, in the 10am-1pm or 2pm-5pm time slot.

We request you to indicate a suitable timing for staging the play that would assure an audience of 100-150 Doctors/Lawyers/Nurses/Students/Community in General.

PROJECT “BETIYAN”

India is growing dynamically in every fields. Today, the boom in economy, innovative technologies and improved infrastructure has become nation’s pride. The country has witnessed advancements in all fields but bias against a girl child is still prevailing in the country

This social evil is deep rooted in Indian ethos and the most shocking fact is that the innovative and hard high end technologies are brutally killing the Indian girl child. Innovative techniques, like biopsy, ultrasound, scan tests and amniocentesis, devised to detect genetic abnormalities, are highly misused by number of families to detect gender of the unborn child. These clinical tests are highly contributing to the rise in genocide of the unborn girl child. 

In today’s day and age most couples prefer the process known as a planned pregnancy, because of various factors; prime amongst them being the financial well being to support the birth and nurturing of a child. In such cases, the first prenatal visit actually happens prior to actual pregnancy, to see whether one is ready to go off the contraception pills and conceive a baby.
The nation of mothers still follows a culture where people idolizes son and mourns daughters. UN figures out that about 750,000 girls are aborted every year in India. Abortion rates are increasing in almost 80% of the India states, mainly Punjab and Haryana. These two states have the highest number of abortions every year. If the practice continues, then no longer a day will come when Mother India will have no mothers, potentially, no life.
We all are proud citizens of India. The need of hour is to realize our responsibilities and give a halt to this evil crime. What can we do to curb the brutal and undesirable practice of mass killing girls? A determined drive can initiate a spark to light the lamp and show the world that we all are part of the great Mother India.

On the occasion of 07th April world health day Pragatee foundation decided to conduct project “Betiyan” in Mumbai and surrounding area. Pragatee foundation arrange series of plays about importance of Girl/female  in our life. We cannot survive our life without girl / female. 

EYE CHECK-UP CAMP - DHARAVI

Andhra Karnataka Sangh, Bharatratna Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya and Jr. College, 301 (p), Sant Kakkaya Marg, Dharavi, Mumbai – 40001, approach pragatee foundation to conduct Eye Check-up camp on 3rd Jan 2009 between morning 10am to afternoon 2:00 pm. Pragatee foundation is always ready to conduct such social activities. We have contacted to our regular doctors and K.B. HAJI BACHOOALI HOSPITAL, Mumbai to send their team to conduct Diagnostic eye camp. All patients registered in the camp for cataract surgery will be brought in our bus and operated FREE OF COST at K. B. HAJI BACHOOALI HOSPITAL and dropped them back at the campsite. Prominent publicity should be given to this fact.

Camp was organized by Pragatee foundation with help of local corporator and chairman of Andhra Karnataka Sangh Mr. Shankar Santi. Hon. MP Mr. Eknathji Gaikawad and Hon. MLA Mrs. Varshatai were present to inspect the camp. Camp was successfully organized and approximately 300-400 people were check-up their eyes. 10 cases were detected for cataract operation and were operated absolutely free of cost at K. B. HAJI BACHOOALI HOSPITAL. All Expenses was bare by pragatee foundation. President Mr. Kiran S. Rane, Seretary Mr. Haresh Pagare, Trustees Mr. Krishna bokka and Dr. Baba L Meshram were present during entire camp time. Exhibition about Eye and Care was also organized during this camp.

HIV- AIDS AWARENESS CAMP

     

As you know that 1st Dec is world’s AIDS DAY. On this special day we Pragatee foundation has conducted Public Awareness camp about HIV-AIDS. We “Pragatee foundation, Mumbai”(Regd) arrange this Campaign which was held on  Monday 1ST Dec 2008 at Ghatkopar west branch.

Our main aim to conduct this camp was that people should get correct information about HIV-AIDS. It was very helpful to understand right and wrongs, dos and don’t about HIV-AIDS.  During this campaign pragatee foundation distributed leaf lets and information about HIV AIDS.

We also distributed approximately 500 condoms to increase awareness about protected sex. Leaf lets and other material was provided by Maharashtra State Aids Control Society.

  

WORLD HEALTH DAY

On this day around the globe, hundreds of organizations had host events to draw attention to the global health workforce crisis and celebrate the dignity and value of working for health.

The Pragatee Foundation, Mumbai have been also took an active participant to bring this awareness and orientation programmes.

Pragatee foundation has arranged free seminar and free medicine distribution camp in worli slum areas. About 100 health workers from Mumbai and Thane districts were attended the camp. Pragatee foundation have been distributed almost all type of medicines to poor and needy people. 3 Doctors team were working under supervision of Trustee and founder member Dr. Baba L. Meshram.

We have distributed all medicine around Rs.50, 000/- (Fifty thousand only) absolutely free. World health day is perfect day to examine and cure poor and needy patient.

Free Eye Chek-Up And Cataract Operation Camp

 In this event we have invited medical experts and Eye specialist of K.B.HAJI BACHOOALI CHARITABLE HOSPITAL Parel to chek the patients. 500 patients had taken the benefit of this camp. We found around 50 patients of CATARACT to whom we operated absolutely free of charges.
This event was organized in the presence of Pragatee Foundation’s President Mr. Kiran Rane , Secretory Mr. Harish Pagare and trustee Dr. Baba L. Meshram.

 With the help KBH Haji Bachhuali Eye Hospital, Parel, PRAGATEE FOUNDATION (Regd.), Mumbai has successfully conducted Eye testing camp at Ghatkopar. Pragatee foundation (Regd) Mumbai & KBH Haji Bachhuali Eye Hospital, Parel has jointly organized the Free Eye Testing & Free Cataract Surgery Camp on Sunday 23rd Sept 2007 between 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Ghatkopar, Indira Nagar Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal.

 Almost 500 people get benefited through this camp. 7 doctor’s team & foundation’s volunteer were serving people throughout the camp. Eye vision test & Registration of Cataract surgery has done absolutely free of cost.  High quality Specs were distributed at reasonable rates Rs.200 to Rs.300/- only during this camp. Pragatee foundation’s President Mr. kiran rane, Secretary Mr. Haresh Pagare & Trustee Dr. Baba Meshram were present at event along with all local social workers.

Free School Kit & Computer Distribution Among Adivasi School

Pragatee Foundation and Lower parel Vikas and Samajik Sanstha has been jointly organized free Distribution of school kits to Sant Gadge Maharaj Ashram School at Biwali Village Bhiwandi Taluka. School has good history of Sant & Great Social worker Shri Gadge Maharaj.

This event was useful to the children who were facing financial problems. Here all area is come under backward Adivasi village. There is no power, no transportation facilities, no communication facilities etc. Here we saw eagerness of children to learn about computer, so we have decided to donate 2 Computers to them immediately. Secretary Mr. Harish D. Pagare and President Mr. Kiran S. Rane have made an announcement about donation of 2 Computers to school. President of Lower Parel Samjik Sanstha Mr. Prakash Patkar was invited as a chief guest.

In this event we have invited forest officer, High court Judge, Business man and our sponsors and prompters. Function was attended by Mr. Bhaskar Jhatavkar, Mr. Anandrao bhosale, Mr. Gajanan Sawant, Mr. Eknath Thakur, Mr. Santosh Sawant, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Krishna Bokka, Mr. Jaywant Lokande Mr. Krishna Pawar and All school teachers and authorities. Student were welcome guest by singing welcome song. All guest were honor with “flowers and Shawl-Coconut” by organizer. Speech were delivered by Mr. Haresh Pagare, Mr. Prakash Patkar and Mr. Bhaskar Jhatavkar.

We distributed around 500 school kits and note books among students. Student were awarded with trophies and certificates for great performance in earlier academic calendar year. We have distributed trophies for best candidate, best performer, highest scorer, best sport man etc. All arrangements of guest and students including food were made jointly by Pragatee foundation and Lower parel Samajik Sanstha. Pragatee foundation made an announcement to do such type work on large scale very soon in all over Maharashtra to literate poor and backward children in today’s Information technology world. We follow our motto in real sense i.e. Jan Sukhay !! Jan Hitay !!
